Layout History

We have always had a love for Christmas lights. our first “layout” were just static shows. As we go along, you will see how the show has evolved over the last 10 Christmas seasons. Just in case you are wondering, due to a move in show locations, we didn’t have a 2019 season.

2014 – Eigen St

This was a static show featuring C9 bulbs around the roof outline, 2 reindeer and a 4 ft mini tree.

2015 – Eigen St

This was also a static show. This is the first appearance of a mega tree. The mega tree and star will go through several updates throughout the years but remain the centerpiece of our shows.

2016 – Eigen St

This is the first pixel show. We only had patterns that played nightly. The layout consisted of pixel runs of lights pushed through 3/4″ PCV with a 3 inch spacing. The lights did wrap the whole house and was viewable from both streets.

With our lack of knowledge, we had a catastrophic failure that cause major damage to the lights we had up. We would have to completely redo the show in 2017.

2017 – Eigen St

Rising for the ashes of 2016, this was our first real show. The layout featured a roof outline, backlighting, corners, a 10′ Megatree and a 24″ triple star.
The Megatree is 20 legs of 40 pixels for a total of 800 pixels with a star totaling 90 pixels. ~1900 Pixels
Our featured songs included:
Carole of the Bells (dubstep)
Frosty the Snowman (singing face)
Let It Go
Nutcracker (dubstep)
Wizards in Winter – TSO

2018 – Eigen St

This year seen several upgrades. We added 3 custom snowflakes 120 pixels each, 2 triple 180 pixels each arches and 2 pixel matrices with 384 pixels each.

This brought us up to ~2900 pixels.

Our song line up would get updated with the new elements.

2019 – Show is in limbo.

We took this year off to start preparing the show for it’s new location.

2020 – Forest Hill Dr

This is the new home for CATCR and family. Additions include a new roofline for the house, addition and garage, new corners and backlighting and 4 columns (5 legs of 40) totaling 200 pixels each.

This would mark the first year we would use Jingle Bumpers1 for our intro before the Griswalds sequence.

The 2 pixel matrices and 3 snowflakes would be retired for the time being. ~3200 pixels.

2021 – Forest Hill Dr

We would attempt to get out snow tree props to work, but they ended up getting pulled before the show.

We added new songs like:
Raining Tacos
Christmas Can Can

2022 – Forest Hill Dr

We introduced the Snow Trees. the snow trees consisted of our retired snowflakes on top of an 10′ column (5 legs of 50). This would total 620 pixels per snow tree. 1 snowflake would not survive and would not make it into the show. ~5000 pixels

2023 – Forest Hill Dr

We would retire our 2 triple arches and replace them with 6 Boscoyo Arch/Bat/3 Prong Flake2 at 241 pixels each. We will also add 2 snowflakes 8 foot tall and 600 pixels each.

The mega tree and star would get an update as well. The tree would go from 40 pixels a leg to 50 and the star would be replaces with a 24 inch star with 9 rows3 for a total of 370 pixels.

This will be the first year we started using 12 volt pixels vs our standard of 5 volts. The middle snow tree is finally getting it’s snowflake (not pictured). +8500 pixels
